The former camp terrain in the immediate vicinity of the Hessental railroad station, where no authentic traces of the KZ history can be found anymore, has been converted into a memorial site. Text boards inform visitors in German, English and Polish. There are steles on the terrain with the names of the prisoners. Next to them, a freight train boxcar (a replica) is located, which houses a permanent exhibition. The boxcar on the memorial terrain is open on weekends and holidays during daytime from April to November, so that the exhibition boards can be seen, in particular those concerning the death march. If you visit the memorial without a guided tour, you may disregard the opening times. Other than the boxcar, all elements are always freely accessible and there are no barriers.
The memorial site offers guided tours and different types of project days for school classes and groups. In addition, presentations and film screenings can be booked; there are also regular excursions to memorial places of the Nazi time and to places of former Jewish life in the County of Schwäbisch Hall.
