Two white walls and two crossing paths lead to the two authentic locations: the grave field and the hangar of the former military airport. There is a memorial stone in front of the American military base.

The “talking memorial”, the two white walls created by the artist Dagmar Pachtner from Landshut, was co-created by 200 people from the Filder Plain, who give dignity and compassion to the victims by speaking der names and remember them with responsibility for the future in mind. While walking along the wall or standing in front of it the visitor hears the names of the former prisoners. Each name is given ample time. No other name is heard at the same time.

The memorial site is freely accessible, but due to the proximity of the US airfield visitors cannot park their cars directly at the memorial. It is recommended to use the parking lots near the Café del Sol Filderstadt (Echterdingerstr. 104, 70794 Filderstadt). From there it’s a five-minute unobstructed walk.    

Memorial celebrations are held annually.

The grave field lies on US terrain and may only be visited in coordination with the person responsible for the memorial site. Currently, one visitation per annum is possible.

In addition, excursions, events concerning the topic of remembrance work as well as guided tours for groups and school classes are offered.
